New Vision Wilderness Therapy

New Vision Wilderness (NVW) is an effective and exciting alternative for struggling teens, young adults, and their families, and is the premiere wilderness therapy intervention. We are consistently challenging the national therapy frontier. NVW is the home of cutting-edge trauma-informed care & wilderness intervention.

Job Mission:

The Field Mentor reports directly to the Field Director of New Vision Wilderness, Wisconsin Program. The mission of the Field Mentor is to work in collaboration with the Field Director to provide training, support, and mentorship to Field Instructors. The Field Mentor will help to train new instructors in policy and procedures and group management practices, will mentor instructor teams in the use of therapeutic and educational groups, wilderness connective experience, and Mastery programming to build healthy relationships with students, and will provide intervention and as-needed support for struggling individuals or groups. The Field Mentor will work closely with the Field Director, Clinicians, Field Specialists, and Instructors to support consistency and continual growth of students and instructors. The Field Mentor will work on a 8-day on/6-day off schedule.

The Field Mentor is someone who can effectively engage with students and staff, foster a positive community within staff, ensure physical and emotional safety for students in the field, teach and mentor other instructors, and communicate effectively with peers. The position requires flexibility and adaptability to daily needs of groups, stability and poise in stressful situations, and a team builder mentality for fostering EMBARK culture.

Job Requirements:

1. The Field Mentor must be at least 21 years old

2. Minimum of 2 years' experience working in the adventure or outdoor field with at-risk youth, or comparable experience.

3. Must possess and maintain current Wilderness First Responder and CPR certification and must have completed company provided non-violent crisis intervention training.

4. Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.

5. Ability to lift and carry 50+ pounds for extended durations

6. Must be able to pass a Background Criminal Investigation.

7. Must hold a valid Driver's License with clean driving record.
